For the.......

          the sick

           the lame

            & the ugly!

We are David and Tracey.

We have been working with animals for the last 6 years or so, mainly via Cassidy’s Place in the last two.

Cassidy’s Place is a sanctuary/rest home etc for the type of cats we tend to attract. We found when we fostered cats for charities that we would get the older or sick animals who used to stay for long periods or would succumb to their illness whilst with us, whilst the young ones came and went reasonably quick. We actually got to like having the older cats as you can feed them up and get them in a good condition sit back and be pleased with the results. On the other hand you also loose a lot of animals just when you get attached.

Our theory for housing the cats is to keep segregation to a minimum allowing them to freely mix. This is the opposite to other cat rescue groups. The reason behind this based on the age/illness etc of the cats. Many of the cats would rather have room to roam and interact with each other, since they tend to be near the later end of their life we think the freedom outweighs the risk. Touch wood this has not caused any problems so far but we understand the consequences.

Currently (Jan 2012) we have 17 cats which we understand is probably too many but what do you say when a caller says you are their last chance. Unfortunately we have reached the financial limits and beyond, so we cannot take in anymore cats, even if we can re-hone the suitable cats we have.

We are not a charity and get no funding at all, we pay all the costs ourselves. We do occasionally get boot fair items, old towels/blankets for bedding for which we are truly grateful.

If you have any old blankets etc please go to “News and events” or “Contact us” to see where we can be seen.
